When nothing but hardwood will do

Hardwood is the perfect option for so many spaces. Living rooms, of course, are a perfect place to install them, as are hallways, bedrooms, studies, and even kitchens. With the proper installation and sealing, you’ll never have a problem keeping these floors looking great and performing exactly the way you want them to. The stability means that everyday wear doesn’t stand a chance, and when it does start to show, you only need to schedule a refinishing to bring it back to a like-new finish.

Choosing a wood species and finish type are exciting moments in choosing your hardwood floors. The species will play into your floors living up to their lifespan potential, and even the finish can play a part in withstanding everyday wear and tear. Better than that, though, it gives you the ability to truly personalize your floors your way.

It should be noted that solid hardwood flooring must never be installed in below-grade spaces such as basements. If you need wood-look flooring for spaces like this, be sure to ask your associate about engineered wood flooring or luxury vinyl planks and tiles.

Selecting a Hardwood Flooring can be very confusing, so please stop in and let our expert staff guide you to the right wood floor for your home.

Types of hardwood

It is better to understand the different types of wood floors that will be available to you. Wood floors are produced in both solid and engineered planks and the planks come in a wide variety of wood species.

Solid wood flooring refers to hardwood flooring made from one solid piece of lumber. Solid wood flooring is available in a variety of sizes and species ranging in durability from pine to Brazilian cherry. Solid hardwood products also include different gloss levels and surface treatments like hand-scraping or distressing.

Engineered hardwood flooring is real wood flooring, but is more stable than solid wood. Engineered wood flooring is less susceptible to shrinking and expanding with changes in temperatures and humidity while the multiple wood layers in engineered hardwood make it very durable.
