Master Shower

Are you in the planning stage of a new shower?  If so, have you thought about the details? When I start planning, I tend to check out Pinterest or some designers to help me find inspirational photos that will give me an idea of what I am looking for.

The Master Bathroom has become one of the main focus of homes today in the Madison WI area as it is connected to the Master Bedroom and it is where we tend to relax.  Most homeowners feel that it is important to have a relaxing feel in the master bathroom while keeping with the theme of the rest of the home.

Depending on the look you are leaning towards, there are several options available.  You could opt to have a contrasting look where the floor tile in the bathroom may have a darker tile and then have a white wall tile.  Think about adding a pattern or geometric tile to the floor that will create a great visual interest to all that enter this space but make sure that you don’t lock yourself into a design that would not be timeless.

There are several things to consider when planning a master shower.  Do you like the look of a curbless shower which could add a more modern feel as well as it could make the space seem bigger?  You will also need to tie in the fixtures (shower faucet and drain) to the shower, do you want to have contrast or would you be open to mixing different metal finishes in the shower and by the vanity?

Walk-in showers tend to not have enough storage for your shampoo bottles or body soaps.  A shower niche is a common storage space within the wall of your master shower. The niche would a framed box between the wall studs.  This shower niche would be secured with kerdi and/or cement board, waterproofed and then tiled.
